Administration

Most of Pinion’s behavior is data you configure, not code you write. This section is the reference for the org-wide settings and operational controls — the knobs an admin owns that aren’t specific to one product, rule, or quote.

Where admin configuration lives

  • The Pinion Admin app — the launcher for everything below: Configurator Settings, Approvals, licensing, the Setup Wizard, and (on Pinion+) Config Promotion. You reach it from the App Launcher → Pinion Admin.
  • ConfiguratorSettings__mdt — a singleton custom-metadata record (the Default record) that holds the org-wide switches: which line object Pinion writes to, the kill switches, lifecycle defaults, a few performance knobs, and the default theme. You edit it through the admin UI, not by hand in Setup. See Configurator Settings.
  • A handful of custom settings / objects for narrower concerns — BypassSettings__c (trigger bypass), AuditTrailSettings__c (audit logging), PinionLicense__c (the activated license), ErrorLog__c (the error sink).

Who administers Pinion

Admin work requires the Pinion Administrator permission set — the only set that grants the full configuration surface (rules, pricing, bundles, attributes, licensing, config promotion, deploy logs). The other packaged sets are narrower personas. See Personas & Permission Sets.
