Licensing & Tiers

Pinion is licensed in two tiers — base (Pinion) and Pinion+. The base tier is a complete CPQ; Pinion+ layers on the advanced and governance capabilities.

Pinion is available both directly from Pinion and on the Salesforce AppExchange — the same two tiers either way. Direct licensing is arranged through a Pinion agreement; AppExchange licensing is purchased through the listing. Whichever channel you come through, your tier maps to the same set of features below.

What the base tier includes

Everything you need to configure, price, quote, and approve a deal:

  • the configurator and real-time pricing;
  • List and Block pricing, discount schedules, manual discounts, MDQ subscriptions, and config-attribute pricing;
  • bundles with options, features, and constraints;
  • product, pricing, and approval rules;
  • quote templates, routing, translation, and generation;
  • approvals — submitting, the approver queue, delegation, and the trace.

The base tier also carries sensible limits that Pinion+ raises — for example, up to 2 configuration attributes per product.

What Pinion+ adds

The premium tier unlocks the advanced and governance features, including:

  • Dimensional attributes — per-segment attribute values on MDQ products.
  • Configurable pricing waterfalls — clone and author the pricing order.
  • Multi-instance and dynamic bundle features, and config bundles.
  • Advanced approvals and a higher cap on active approval rules.
  • Mass renewal and renewal forecasting.
  • Cross-order discount aggregation, line-item audit, and the RevOps dashboard.
  • Advanced MDQ cadences (multi-cadence, multi-segment, one-time, more time dimensions per product).
  • Admin AI assistance and CLM (contract lifecycle management).

…plus higher limits on the capped base features (more configuration attributes, more pricing rules, and so on).

How gating behaves

Pinion is deliberate about gating: a Pinion+ feature is shown, not hidden — you can see it in the admin UI with an upgrade prompt, so you always know what’s available at the next tier. You just can’t use it until the org is on Pinion+. Base limits (like the 2-attributes-per-product cap) are enforced when you try to exceed them — editing what you already have is never blocked.
